The Northern Busway is a two-lane two-way dedicated roadway with busway stations
approximately 5.35km in length that is dedicated to buses and allows access
for on-duty emergency services vehicles. The busway is grade separated at all
road intersections between the Royal Children’s busway station and Sadlier
Street, Kedron.
The busway consists of
- High quality busway stations in terms of design, operation and maintenance
- Supporting local bus stops near busway stations for feeder bus drop off;
- Passenger pick up and drop off areas("kiss n’ ride" areas) and taxi
zones;
- Bus access locations (from the local road network to the busway);
- Pedestrian and cyclist access provisions to all busway stations; and
- The busway carriageway between busway stations.
