The South East Transit Project involved planning and construction of Queensland’s
first busway located between Brisbane central business district and Eight Mile
Plains, as well as ten busway stations. The South East Busway has won many awards for design, construction and service delivery.
The first section of South East Busway between the CBD and Woolloongabba opened in September 2000 to coincide with the first match of the Olympic Games Football Tournament at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (The Gabba). The second section between Woolloongabba and Eight Mile Plains opened on 30 April 2001.
The southern end of the Busway is connected to Springwood Bus Station via transit lanes on the Pacific Motorway (M1). The northern end crosses the Victoria Bridge and enters the CBD. There are 10 busway stations along the length of the South East Busway. The Harrison Group was responsible for the project management of numerous sections
of the busway between Vulture Street and North Quay.
